The ATO had previously advised it would no longer issue paper installment notices for PAYG and GST quarterly installments once an activity statement or installment notice is lodged, revised, or varied electronically through its online services, however, feedback from tax professionals have alerted the ATO to issues arising for some of their clients, as a result of this change.
As an interim solution, the ATO will revert back to issuing paper PAYG and GST quarterly notices starting with the March 2021 quarterly notices.
The ATO said it will continue to work with tax professionals to develop a digital solution for the PAYG and GST installment notices that are workable for registered agents and their clients.
